WEEKLY CSA PICK-UPS
We offer a weekly CSA, where members come to the farm at 11 Carter Road and pick up a share of just-harvested, seasonal vegetables. The varieties and quantities vary by season, as does the availability of pick-your-own flowers, herbs and veggies.
The season typically goes from early June through mid-November. Pick-up days are Tuesdays and Thursdays (members choose one or the other) and the hours are from 1 to 7 p.m.
To find out the most recent information about our CSA, such as the expected start date or availability of shares, check the announcements page.
GUIDELINES AND SUGGESTIONS FOR MEMBERS
We ask that members make every effort to come on their scheduled pick-up day. We will try to accommodate occasional changes, but please understand that we cannot juggle frequent schedule changes for over 300 members.
If you must switch your scheduled day, please let us know by Monday of that week.
PICKING UP THE FOLLOWING DAY:
If you cannot get to the farm on your scheduled day, call us by 7 p.m. to request that we save your share. You may then pick up your saved share the following day between noon and 1p.m. If we do not hear from you before 7 p.m. on your scheduled day, we will not be able to save your share. When you call, simply leave a voicemail message. Do not expect a call back; we will return your call only if there is a problem. (The phone is the only way to contact us; we do not have email at the farm.) Please understand that we cannot be available in the barn/pick-up area during the day except on scheduled pick-up days; we need to maximize our time in the field in order to provide our members with a generous share.
You may choose to split a share with a family member or friend. However, the entire share has to be picked up at one time. We cannot hold partial shares at the farm.
WASH ALL PRODUCE:
Though we wash the produce to remove much of the field dirt, we suggest that you wash all of the veggies before eating them.
BRING YOUR OWN BAGS:
We cannot provide bags. Though we usually have extras donated by members, it is best to bring enough for your own use. Reusable bags or crates are a great idea. It’s also a good idea to bring a cooler especially when the days are warm.
PICK YOUR OWN (PYO)
Some weeks, there will be PYO crops such as peas, cherry tomatoes, green beans, hot peppers. The quantities for each size share will be posted in the barn. Bear in mind that if you are splitting a share, you will need to split the PYO too.
When the herb garden is ready (probably around the end of June), you may pick herbs for your weekly use.
When flowers are ready for picking, we will let you know the weekly quantity for a share. It’s best to bring a container with you to the field; your flowers will last longer if you put the stems in water immediately, especially if you are picking them on a hot afternoon. (We’ll provide water.) We have a few pairs of clippers available, but you might prefer to bring your own so that you don’t have to wait for other members to finish.
